And Falguni Gruh Udyog is the success story of a Gujarati family's business growth, led by their love for all things food. What started off as a humble Khakhra making venture 35 years ago has now become a name to reckon with when it comes to every Gujarati's favourite snack, Khakhra and the hundreds of varieties of Suko Naasto (Dry Snacks) which travels with them all over the world.
The Zaveri family began with a small-time business of rolling out and selling close to 50-60 Khakhras at Sardar Seva Samaj in Ahmedabad, to cater to the Jain community and their love for Khakhra. Led by the family matriarch Srimatiben Zaveri, with the help of Devendrabhai Zaveri and their sons Kartik & Mitesh. With an increase in the number of orders and sales, they started giving out small time jobs of rolling and making Khakhras to people nearby, and later they started hiring full time employees for the same.
Eventually, Papad and Achaar, another staple in every Gujarati household, was added to their products. In 1992, the business, now a successful venture, was rechristened as Falguni Gruh Udhyog, in the loving memory of Srimatiben’s late daughter Falguni. More products were introduced, like Fafda and Ganthiya, Chana Jor Garam and many other Gujarati snacks.
Currently, 80 products are manufactured in-house at Falguni Gruh Udhyog, while many famous snack brands have partnered with them for trade. They also house special snacks from all over the country like Pune Chivda, Surat Ponkh and Sarasjya Khaja, Bakery Toasts and Khari, Baroda Aaloo Chivda, Kutch Masala Rotlo, Amritsari Achaar, Kerala Banana Wafers and even Mulagapodi Chutneys of Tamil Nadu.
